The Wines - Sharecroppers Club

sharecropper /ˈ sh e(ə)rˌkräpər/ (noun) a tenant farmer.

At Working Horse Winery we feel very privileged to be able to work the land and enjoy the fruits of our labour. We don’t see the land as something to own but something to nurture, and have the privilege to enjoy. Everyone who buys our wines is in a sense a sharecropper; helping to preserve traditional farming, the draft horses (an endangered breed), and a sustainable approach to land use. You are all part of the land, so the Sharecroppers Club is our way of saying thank you, and we look forward to sharing the riches of the farm with you.

Benefits of the Sharecroppers Club:

- A personally guided farm, equine and wine tour for you and 3 guests (or your family) each year. The tour will provide you with an opportunity to enjoy the farm, walk in the vineyards and gardens, and see the horses at work. As a member, your visit to the farm will be followed by a tasting and tapas with the winemaker. The tour is about 4 hours long, and can be catered to your specific areas of interest such as the herb gardens, the draft horses or the vines. Depending on the season of your visit, you might help pick fresh ingredients for the tapas or ride in the sleigh.

- One night’s accommodation for two on the farm per membership year, which includes an exclusive Sharecroppers welcome bottle of wine. In the morning you’ll be greeted by the farm breakfast tradition of a basket of freshly baked quiche and breads dropped at your door complimented by your in room gourmet coffee or tea. Of course, swinging in the hammock, interacting with the farm animals, walks in the gardens and hanging with the winemaker are encouraged activities. Available dates are limited, so book early. Discounts of 20% on additional nights and rooms, based on availability.

- Exclusive, limited wine releases that simply won’t be available to anyone but members. We would like to share our wines with everyone, but when you make very small quantities and unique varietals, that just isn’t possible. Your membership helps support the farm so you deserve something very special from it. Every year will be different, a reflection of the growing season.

- Exclusive invitations to have access to seasonal produce and events celebrating cuisine, equus and wine.

If you think that becoming a Sharecropper on our farm is something you’d be interested in, please drop us a line. We look forward to hearing from you!
